Our August trip to the Smokies

A normal trip to the mountains for us occurs in May or if we are really adventurous in October with the crowds...but what are we thinking going to the National Park in August...in a year that has been so hot.

The answer is this was going to be the only time we could get away this year and so we took it.

Our cabin was great and located in a good part of the area so that it was fairly easy to get to almost anywhere in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg.

We had a great time in the cities as well as in the mountains this year.

We only saw bears once and it was actually in our neighborhood...didn't even have to drive far...but even though that was it for the bear count the mountains are wonderful and come on...four bear cubs this was great to see.

Our trips to the cove, Tremont, Elkmont, the camp store and picnic areas all was great and the temperature in the mountains made most days fine.

I even purchased another Charlotte Rollman painting while visiting the craft loop.
